Six schools are selected and awarded, divided into the creation field and the utilization and post-management field.
This year, Daap Middle School in Gwangyang-si, Jeollanam-do was selected as the best case in the creation field, and Jain Elementary School in Gyeongsan-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do was selected as the best case in the utilization and post-management field.
Daap Middle School was highly evaluated for transforming unused spaces into experiential and resting areas by planting various species of trees and ground cover plants in harmony with existing trees.
Also, Jain Elementary School was recognized for its strengths in appropriate tree management and the composition and operation of various programs linked to the curriculum.
Kim Ju-yeol, Director of the Urban Forest Landscape Division at the Korea Forest Service, said, “We will continue to expand school forests through projects such as forest playgrounds, fostering children's emotional development through forests and increasing local green resting spaces.”
