Collision Between Fishing Boat and Leisure Boat at Jeju Seongsan Port... 3 Crew Members Rescued
[Jeju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Jeongpil] A collision and capsizing accident occurred between a fishing boat and a leisure boat inside Seongsan Port, Seogwipo City, Jeju, resulting in all three crew members of the leisure boat being rescued by the Seogwipo Coast Guard.
According to the Seogwipo Maritime Police Station on the 5th, at around 6:42 a.m., a report was received that leisure boat A (3.8t, 3 crew members) and fishing boat B (9.77t, 9 crew members) collided, causing boat A to capsize.
The Seogwipo Coast Guard dispatched rescue forces including patrol vessels, coastal rescue boats from the local police station, and private marine rescue teams.
At approximately 6:45 a.m., upon arrival at the scene, one person had already been rescued by boat B, and police officers immediately entered the water to rescue the remaining two along with boat B.
Subsequently, the three rescued individuals were transported by 119 ambulance to a medical facility in Jeju City. One person was unconscious at the time of rescue and was continuously given cardiopulmonary resuscitation during transport but fortunately has since regained consciousness. The health condition of the other two was reported to be good.
The Seogwipo Coast Guard plans to investigate the exact cause of the accident involving the crew members of the fishing boat and the leisure boat.
