Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority Unveils Second Recycled Product, 'Eco Safety Vest'
540 Eco Safety Vests Made from PET Bottle Recycling
Supporting Safety of Yeosu Gwangyang Port Workers and Sharing Resource Circulation Values
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority (President Cha Min-sik, hereinafter referred to as the Authority) unveiled the second recycled product for realizing ESG values, the "Eco Safety Vest for Yeosu Gwangyang Port Workers" (hereinafter the vest), on the 5th.
The vest, made using regen, a recycled yarn from discarded PET bottles, features phrases and logos indicating that it is a recycled product of the Authority.
Additionally, it was produced in collaboration with the social enterprise "Songgwang Happiness Town," which employs severely disabled people in the region, adding value through mutual growth.
In November, the Authority plans to distribute the vests to related organizations within the port, such as the Port Workers' Union and operating companies, to share awareness and values regarding marine plastic resource circulation and to support a safe working environment for on-site workers.
Seo Hwi-won, Director of the Social Value Innovation Office, said, "Following the first product, the document bag, we are now able to share resource circulation values with more organizations through the eco safety vest. We will do our best to realize ESG values by producing more recycled products and sharing them with the local community."
Meanwhile, since last year, the Authority has been promoting the "Yeosu Gwangyang Port Marine Plastic Resource Circulation Project" to realize ESG values and is conducting the "Regen Ocean Project" with Hyosung TNC to produce recycled yarn from marine plastics discarded by ships entering Gwangyang Port.
