KOSPI Stalls... Sideways Movement Around 2960 Level
KOSDAQ Recovers to 1000 Level
[Asia Economy Reporter Minwoo Lee] The KOSPI remains steady around the 2960 level without significant fluctuations. With no positive factors to reverse the market, a cautious atmosphere is deepening.
As of 1:40 PM on the 5th, the KOSPI recorded 2968.67, down 0.49% from the previous day. After opening slightly higher at 3003.53, it declined to 2953.96 around 10:08 AM but slightly rebounded, reducing the loss.
By investor type, foreigners and individuals net bought stocks worth 400 million KRW and 319.6 billion KRW, respectively. Institutions net sold stocks worth 338.4 billion KRW.
Most sectors declined. Banks (-3.62%), steel & metals (-3.25%), construction (-1.58%), and chemicals (-1.39%) saw the largest drops. Textiles & apparel (3.44%) and transportation equipment (0.39%) rose.
At the same time, the KOSDAQ rose 0.25% to 1003.89. After opening slightly higher at 1006.04, it fell to 995.35 by 10:14 AM but then surpassed the opening price again.
Foreigners and institutions net bought stocks worth 57.4 billion KRW and 19.4 billion KRW, respectively. Individuals net sold stocks worth 81.6 billion KRW.

In the KOSDAQ market, the ratio of sectors that declined and those that rose was similar. General electric & electronics (3.63%), digital contents (2.66%), and transportation equipment & parts (1.52%) increased, while paper & wood (-1.25%), non-metallic minerals (-1.21%), and medical & precision instruments (-1.10%) declined.
