Portable Electric Vehicle Charger as Compact as a 'Sohyeong Carrier' to Launch Next Year
Can be carried in a car trunk or stored at home... Up to 32 km driving range with 30-minute charging
[Asia Economy Senior Reporter Jinsoo Lee] The concern for electric vehicle (EV) drivers is the inability to find charging stations in time. This concern for EV drivers seems about to be resolved soon.
British company ZipCharge unveiled its portable EV charger "GO," scheduled to be launched in the second half of next year, on the 3rd (local time) during the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) held in Glasgow.
According to ZipCharge, GO is a lightweight, portable auxiliary battery that anyone can charge at home and use to charge their EV anywhere when needed. The expected retail price is around ?800 (approximately 1.3 million KRW). It can also be rented for a monthly fee of ?50.
GO, about the size of a small travel suitcase, is light enough to be carried in an EV trunk or stored at home. The power panel displays the charging status. Moreover, the front cover can be custom-made in various colors and finishes to match the appearance of the EV.
With 30 minutes of charging, GO enables driving up to 20 miles (32 km). This distance is sufficient for daily commuting. Inside GO, there is a high energy density lithium-ion battery and related electronic devices. The charging status can be monitored in real-time via a smartphone app.
