Gwangju Seo-gu to Host 'Second Half Year Sports for All Competitions by Event'

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shin Dong-ho] Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Seo Dae-seok) announced on the 4th that it will hold the second half of the year lifestyle sports competitions by category for the phased recovery of daily life from COVID-19.

Seo-gu plans to promote a total of 19 sports competitions (15 in November, 4 in December) and decided to proceed under a thorough quarantine management plan in accordance with the first phased daily recovery policy of COVID-19 in Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 1st.

While managing the number of participants in the competitions, each sports association was instructed to establish detailed basic quarantine management plans including ▲ restrictions on eligibility of participating athletes related to COVID-19 ▲ wearing masks followed by fever checks ▲ securing interpersonal distancing ▲ refraining from cheering, and a person responsible for infection control will be designated for each competition to ensure thorough prevention of COVID-19 spread.

This sports competition, organized together by the Seo-gu Sports Council (Chairman Jeong Cheon-gyu) and each affiliated sports association, is expected to once again expand the base of lifestyle sports that had been contracted due to COVID-19 through its hosting.

A Seo-gu official said, “Strict compliance with the basic quarantine rules according to government policy must be the foundation above all,” and added, “We will make every effort to establish detailed quarantine plans and thoroughly guide and inspect auxiliary organizations based on regulations.”

According to the schedule of the sports competitions, the 24th Seo-gu Mayor’s Cup Lifestyle Sports Tennis Competition will be held first on the 6th at the World Tennis Court in Hwajeong-dong.
