[Special Stock] NCSoft's Stock Plummets Despite Releasing Lineage W
[Asia Economy Reporter Junho Hwang] NCSoft's stock price plummeted on the 4th following the release of the massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) 'Lineage W'.
As of 9:14 a.m. that day, NCSoft was trading on the KOSPI at 593,000 KRW, down 9.72% from the previous trading day.
Lineage W officially launched on the same day after starting pre-downloads on the 2nd. The game even reached number one in the domestic Google Play popularity rankings.
However, disappointment with the game appears to have been reflected in the stock price. NCSoft's stock price once exceeded 1 million KRW but declined due to controversies over Lineage's monetization and the commercial failure of 'Blade & Soul 2'.

News that some of the profits from the Seongnam Daejang-dong development project, which is under suspicion of preferential treatment, were funneled to 'Justal', a real estate development company invested in by NCSoft CEO Kim Taek-jin, is also expected to have affected the stock price.
