[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-seon] Shinsegae Food is launching a cosmic futuristic bakery, ‘UNIVERSE BY JRILLA’.
Shinsegae Food announced on the 4th that it will open a concept store called ‘UNIVERSE BY JRILLA’ on the first floor of the SSG Food Market in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul on the 11th. ‘UNIVERSE BY JRILLA’ is a bakery that combines Shinsegae Food’s premium bakery research and development capabilities with the worldview of ‘JRILLA,’ a gorilla character born on Mars who came to Earth.
The character ‘JRILLA,’ who gained attention as an influencer after appearing on Instagram in April, is launched based on the story of introducing unique breads made and enjoyed on Mars using cosmic recipes to Earth.
The interior of the ‘UNIVERSE BY JRILLA’ store applies a futuristic concept so that customers can experience the feeling of being inside a spaceship. Using black and white colors, the concept emphasizes a luxurious yet simple design, and the store will be decorated with 14 large displays, hologram-patterned package looks, and various goods showcasing the worldview of ‘JRILLA.’
In particular, the ‘Infinity Mirror Object’ installed on the store walls and the ‘OLED Wall’ created in collaboration with LG Electronics express a dreamy atmosphere through various video contents, allowing visitors to feel that the ‘UNIVERSE BY JRILLA’ store is a connecting space that transcends the real world and the cosmic world.
The store sells about 60 types of bread developed with motifs of space and solar system planets. Signature menu items include ‘Aurora Bagel,’ ‘Pain de California,’ ‘Mercury Crush,’ and ‘Marble Chocolat.’ The ‘Aurora Bagel’ uses natural pigments to embody the aurora, known as the soul of the gods. ‘Pain de California,’ reminiscent of California’s hot sun, is baked at a high temperature above 280 degrees using naturally fermented levain over a long period. The petit mousse cake ‘Mercury Crush,’ inspired by Mercury, features a harmony of white chocolate and lime.
