Yeonggwang-gun Selected as ‘Best County’ in Jeonnam Province Agricultural Administration Comprehensive Evaluation
[Yeonggwang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jeonseong] Yeonggwang-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kim Junsung) announced on the 3rd that it was selected as the best county in this year's Jeollanam-do Agricultural Administration Comprehensive Evaluation for its differentiated policy promotion to increase farmers' income and improve their quality of life by creating high added value in agriculture.
This is a very joyous award that has elevated the status of the county's agriculture since the 7th term, as a result of continuous investment for sustainable agriculture and rural areas since the 6th term, and it is the third consecutive year of winning since 2019.
The award ceremony will be held at the '26th Jeollanam-do Farmers' Day Event' on the 10th.
The 'Jeollanam-do Agricultural Administration Comprehensive Evaluation' evaluates and awards excellent counties in agricultural administration among 21 cities and counties in the province, assessing a total of 35 items in 7 areas including ▲activation of agriculture and rural areas ▲promotion of eco-friendly agriculture ▲promotion of food and horticultural crop production ▲expansion of agricultural product distribution channels and fostering of agro-food industry ▲promotion of environmentally friendly livestock farming.
In this evaluation, the county was recognized for its achievements in fostering high-income farmers, promoting the farmers' salary system, expanding crop disaster insurance enrollment, diversifying agricultural product distribution, and livestock epidemic prevention.
In particular, from the 6th to the 7th term, to foster sustainable agriculture and rural areas, the county continuously promoted policies aimed at establishing an advanced agricultural welfare system, including ▲introduction of public interest allowances for farmers and fishermen and farmers' salary system ▲expansion of crop disaster insurance enrollment in response to climate change ▲promotion of eco-friendly agriculture centered on organic farming ▲expansion of online sales of agricultural specialty products.
Also, by linking the outstanding advantages of agricultural production to distribution and agro-food processing sectors, the county established a 'Food Plan' to build a virtuous cycle system for local food, integrating the 6th industry on-site centered on local food direct stores and the barley industry, thereby establishing a virtuous cycle system for the regional food industry.
Governor Kim Junsung said, “Although the agricultural environment is rapidly changing both domestically and internationally due to fluctuations in agricultural product prices, unexpected agricultural disasters, and aging and feminization of rural areas, we will not fall behind the times and will promote field-tailored agricultural policies by communicating with farmers on-site without being bound by conventions to raise the status of county agriculture.”
