Gwangyang Steelworks Mobile Manager Selected as Gwangyang City's 'Volunteer of the Month' for November
Traffic Safety Guidance, Carbon Reduction Activities in Daily Life, Total 150 Sessions and Over 500 Hours of Volunteering This Year
Spreading a Culture of Sharing in the Community Through Internal and External Volunteer Activities
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] Lee Dong-hyung, a manager at POSCO Gwangyang Steelworks, was recognized for his silent dedication to volunteer activities for the development of the local community and was selected as Gwangyang City's "Volunteer of the Month" for November.
Manager Lee Dong-hyung actively practiced the management philosophy of "Corporate Citizenship Growing Together" by carrying out sharing activities throughout the community with a total of 150 volunteer activities and about 500 hours this year, including traffic safety guidance and carbon reduction activities in daily life.
In particular, as the vice head of the Gwangyang Steelworks Traffic Signal Talent Volunteer Group, Lee Dong-hyung applies his talents to volunteer work by conducting traffic volunteer activities and traffic safety campaigns on the way to elementary schools in the area, striving to prevent children's traffic accidents and establish an advanced traffic safety culture.
Since June, he has signed a business agreement with the Green Umbrella Children’s Foundation for "Children’s Traffic Safety" to create "Safe and Pleasant School Routes," working to improve the routes to school from the children's perspective.
Lee Dong-hyung’s sharing activities at Gwangyang Steelworks are even more meaningful as they extend beyond the Traffic Signal Talent Volunteer Group. He participates in various in-house volunteer activities such as caring for children with special disabilities, environmental cleanup, wallpapering volunteer work, and collecting and washing laundry for the disabled, leading the voluntary sharing culture among employees.
He also actively participates in various external volunteer activities, providing practical help needed by the local community.
In fact, Manager Lee is active as a Green Leader in the Jeonnam Climate Environment Network, collecting and washing discarded ice packs and providing them free of charge to companies in need, actively engaging in carbon reduction activities in daily life.
He said, "I think the reason I was selected as Volunteer of the Month is because I have continued various volunteer activities while thinking about what the local community needs," and added, "I will continue to think about ways to truly help neighbors around me and actively spread the culture of sharing in the community."
Meanwhile, Gwangyang Steelworks is making active efforts to realize a company that works with the local community by presenting a model where companies and society develop together for coexistence and mutual growth. Based on various sharing activities such as talent volunteer groups, employees and their families received numerous commendations at the 15th Gwangyang City Volunteer Day last December in recognition of their dedication to volunteer work for the local community.
