Lotte Hosts Sangjeon Distribution Academic Award Ceremony... Grand Prize to Lee Soo-dong, Honorary Professor at Kookmin University
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Lotte Group and the Korea Distribution Science Association announced on the 3rd that they will hold the ‘3rd Sangjeon Distribution Academic Award’ ceremony at Lotte World Tower to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of the late Shin Kyuk-ho, Honorary Chairman of Lotte Group. The Sangjeon Distribution Academic Award was established to discover, nurture, and encourage outstanding researchers in distribution science to promote the development of distribution science, which drives the advancement of the distribution industry.
This year, to mark the 100th anniversary of the Honorary Chairman’s birth, a new subcategory for the Best Academic Research Award was created, and the prize money was increased. A new Logistics Research Award, which plays a key role in distribution development, was added, selecting a total of six awardees who contributed to the advancement of distribution. The total prize money was also increased from 85 million KRW to 100 million KRW.
The ‘Academic Grand Prize’ was awarded to Professor Emeritus Lee Soo-dong of Kookmin University. Professor Lee served as president of the Korea Distribution Science Association, president of the Korea Franchise Association, chairman of the Market Management Promotion Agency, and held advisory roles in government-related departments. He also contributed to the mutual development of large-scale distribution businesses and small and medium-sized distribution businesses by serving as an advisor to the Department Store Association and a member of the Seoul City Win-Win Development Council, striving for balanced development across the distribution industry.
Professors Park Cheol of Korea University and Choi Jeong-hye of Yonsei University were selected as winners in the academic category, Professor Seo Yong-gu of Sookmyung Women’s University in the policy category, and Professor Song Sang-hwa of Incheon National University in the logistics category. The New Scholar Award was given to Professor Lee Seung-min of Yeonsung University. The award ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. on the same day at Lotte World Tower.
