The donation ceremony held at Busan City Hall took place on the 1st with the attendance of Park Hyung-joon, Mayor of Busan, Thomas Klein, Chairman of the Mercedes-Benz Social Contribution Committee, Yoo Jae-jin, Chairman of Star Automobile, and Lee Hoon-gyu, Chairman of the Social Welfare Corporation Children and Future Foundation.
All funds and donations raised through the 'Give & Race Virtual Run Busan,' held last month in collaboration with the Children and Future Foundation, were delivered to a total of seven beneficiary institutions nationwide and will be used to support medical and educational expenses for children and adolescents from vulnerable groups.
Of the total donations, 250 million KRW was delivered to organizations located in the Busan area, such as the Busan Metropolitan City Youth Counseling Welfare Center and the Busan Sajik Comprehensive Social Welfare Center, enabling more direct assistance to vulnerable groups in the local community who are in welfare blind spots, the company explained.
The 'Give & Race Virtual Run Busan' was successfully held over two days starting from the 9th of last month, with about 10,000 participants nationwide including Busan. The total donations of over 500 million KRW were raised through participants' entry fees, additional donations, and additional contributions from the Mercedes-Benz Social Contribution Committee.
Since the first event in 2017, the Mercedes-Benz Give & Race has recorded a cumulative total of approximately 75,000 participants and donations exceeding 4.1 billion KRW through the 8th event. Since last year, it has successfully held four non-face-to-face events, leading a new culture of donation.
