Focusing on Countries Exempt from Self-Quarantine... Plans to Showcase Various Products

The home shopping industry is intensifying broadcasts of overseas travel products such as European travel packages, receiving explosive responses from consumers.
◆ Overseas Travel Products ‘Selling Like Hotcakes’ = On the 2nd, CJ OnStyle resumed broadcasting overseas travel products after four months by partnering with travel agency Kyowon KRT on the 31st of last month. The five popular European packages introduced that day attracted about 3,600 people within an hour, with order amounts exceeding 13 billion KRW. These packages include airfare, hotel accommodation, meals, and sightseeing, with prices starting from around 1.4 million KRW. They can be used freely from the 10th of this month until October next year, and 100% cancellation, refund, and region changes are possible within one month after booking. Travel insurance coverage up to 100 million KRW and an additional 30 million KRW for disease-specific insurance are also included.
Lotte Home Shopping conducted a special Interpark Europe event (Turkey, Spain, Dubai, Egypt) package broadcast on the 31st of last month, recording about 10,000 reservations. This broadcast was the first full package product sale since the COVID-19 outbreak. Earlier, on the 17th of last month, a prepaid broadcast for European packages including Turkey and Spain recorded about 28,000 reservations and order amounts of 6.5 billion KRW.
Hyundai Home Shopping partnered with travel agency Onlinetour on the 31st of last month to sell a 3-night hotel stay in Guam. The selling price ranges from 459,000 KRW to 699,000 KRW per adult, and airfare must be purchased separately. Stays are available from the 9th of this month until March next year. Hyundai Home Shopping plans to increase the monthly overseas travel product broadcasts to 70% of the pre-COVID-19 level within this year, focusing on travel-safe zone (travel bubble) countries.
Major online shopping malls are also seeing a resurgence in overseas travel product sales. According to 11st, total overseas travel sales including airfare and accommodation increased by 55% compared to the same period last year from the 25th to the 31st of last month. During the same period, overseas airfare sales on Gmarket and Auction increased by 144% and 29%, respectively.
◆ Popularity of Reasonably Composed Products = The products sold this time have significantly enhanced overall composition compared to pre-COVID-19 products, including hotel locations and travel insurance. An industry insider said, "Prices are similar to before, but attention is being paid to the qualitative aspects of products such as hotels, food, and travel insurance."

The home shopping industry expects a rise in revenge travel demand and plans to introduce various products focusing on countries exempt from self-quarantine. CJ OnStyle will broadcast a European package with travel agency Chamjoeun Travel on the 7th, and on the T-commerce channel CJ OnStyle Plus, products prepared by Norangpungseon for Italy, Spain, and Egypt will be available on the 5th, 6th, and 7th, respectively. Lotte Home Shopping will sell a 3-night stay at the Guam Dusit Thani Hotel and Chamjoeun Travel’s Europe business class product on the 7th, and will introduce a Chamjoeun Travel Mediterranean package on the 14th. Hyundai Home Shopping has a European travel package broadcast scheduled for the 6th.
