43.8% Turnout on First Day of Kukhim Party Member Voting 'Record High'... "Even the Server Crashed"
Temporary Mobile Voting Server Downtime
Interest in Whether Final Voter Turnout Exceeds 70%
[Asia Economy Reporter Minji Lee] On the first day of voting by party members for the People Power Party's presidential candidate selection, the turnout rate reached 43.82%. As enthusiasm surged with the mobile voting server crashing from the first day, attention is focused on whether the final turnout rate can exceed 70%.
According to the People Power Party on the day, mobile voting, which started at 9 a.m., recorded a historic turnout rate of 43.82% with 249,367 participants as of the closing time at 5 p.m. This figure far surpasses the 38.7% turnout rate on the first day of mobile voting for the party's second cut-off (preliminary primary) in June.
With the voting enthusiasm of party members heating up, it was reported that the server was temporarily paralyzed. At the party's Supreme Council meeting that day, Representative Lee Jun-seok emphasized, "Our mobile voting has just started, but the server reportedly crashed. To further ignite the strong desire of the people for regime change, our party's presidential candidate must be selected with greater support from party members."
He continued, "This primary has more enthusiasm and interest than ever before. I hope the turnout rate reaches 70%," and urged, "Please encourage party members to participate in voting as much as possible so that when our candidate is selected, they can feel that they have the support of many party members and the public."
