If You Missed Last Year's Earned Income and Child Tax Credit Application, You Must Apply by the 30th
[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyunjung] Households that missed applying for last year's earned income and child tax credits during the regular application period in May can apply additionally by the 30th of this month to receive the credits by the end of January next year.
The National Tax Service announced on the 1st that it has sent out 'late application' notices for households that missed the 2020 income year earned income and child tax credit regular application deadline.
Households that received the notice can apply for the credits by the 30th via the automated phone system, the Internet Hometax, or the mobile Hometax application. Even if a household did not receive the notice, they can still apply if they are eligible for the credits.

Households applying late will receive the credits by the end of January next year if they meet the income and property requirements. However, the amount will be only 90% of what households who applied on time receive. If the applicant or their spouse has an obligation to file a comprehensive income tax return, they must not omit the final filing to receive the credits.
