LS Gujaeunho Likely to Launch by the End of This Month... Accelerating Digital Management
[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Hyunjin] Koo Ja-eun, chairman of LS Mtron, is set to become the head of LS Group as early as the end of this month.
According to the business community on the 1st, LS Group will hand over the position of group head from the current chairman Koo Ja-yeol to Koo Ja-eun, chairman of LS Mtron, in the regular personnel reshuffle scheduled for the end of this month. Koo Ja-yeol, who became the head of the group in November 2012, took office as chairman of the Korea International Trade Association in February, leading to the change of group head at the year-end personnel reshuffle.
LS Group has rotated the position of group chairman among cousins every 10 years. The first group chairman was Koo Ja-hong, eldest son of the late Koo Tae-hoe, honorary chairman of LS Cable & System and the third brother of founder Koo In-hoe. He served from 2004 to 2013 before passing management rights to Koo Ja-yeol. Born in 1964, Koo Ja-eun is the only son of the late Koo Doo-hoe, honorary chairman of YESCO and the fifth brother of LG founder Koo In-hoe, making him 11 years younger than Koo Ja-yeol (born 1953).
Inside and outside the group, there is speculation that with the launch of the Koo Ja-eun administration next year, LS Group will accelerate digital innovation. Koo Ja-eun has consistently emphasized, "Change cannot be achieved without trying. Do not fear failure, and let us create change together." Since 2019, he has led the group’s future innovation division, driving digital transformation projects.
As a result, LS Cable & System introduced the 'One Pick' system this year, replacing the previous method of checking product inventory and placing orders via email with an online system that allows immediate processing. LS Electric’s Cheongju smart factory applied artificial intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT) to significantly enhance flexibility and production efficiency.
