Ministry of Economy and Finance to Hold Global Seminar on Strengthening Green New Deal and International Climate Cooperation on the 2nd
[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Son Seonhee] The Ministry of Economy and Finance announced that it will hold the 'Global Seminar for Strengthening the Green New Deal and International Climate Cooperation' on the 2nd of next month.
According to the Ministry on the 31st, this meeting will be held at the Korea Promotion Pavilion in Glasgow, UK, on the occasion of the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26).
Under the theme of 'Promoting the Green New Deal and Strengthening International Climate Cooperation,' the seminar will be conducted in two sessions: ▲Challenges and future tasks of climate response policies ▲The role of finance related to climate response and international cooperation measures.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Hong Nam-ki will deliver a welcome address via video, and Ban Ki-moon, Chairperson of the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), will give a congratulatory message via video. Additionally, Yannick Glemarec, Executive Director of the Green Climate Fund (GCF), and Stephanie von Friedeburg, Vice President of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), will participate as special speakers.

In the first session, Lee Jong-hwa, Director of the Development Finance Bureau at the Ministry of Economy and Finance, will present an introduction to Korea's Green New Deal policy, which is being promoted as a new growth engine. The second session will begin with a welcome address by Visit Byung-kyu, President of the Export-Import Bank of Korea, followed by a presentation by Lim Dong-jun, Team Leader at the Export-Import Bank, on the role of development finance institutions in activating the Green Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF) and climate finance.
