Gyeonggi Firefighter Kim Hyun-min Receives Minister of the Interior and Safety Award for 'Outstanding Investigation Case Presentation'
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Fire Captain Kim Hyun-min of the Disaster Prevention Division at the Gyeonggi-do Fire and Disaster Headquarters received the Minister of the Interior and Safety Award at the '2021 Special Judicial Police Investigation Best Practices Presentation Contest' hosted by the National Fire Agency.
The Gyeonggi Fire Headquarters announced on the 29th that Captain Kim received an excellence award among participants from 19 city and provincial headquarters nationwide by presenting a planned investigation case on handling explosive hazardous materials under the theme of 'Tracking Investigation of Explosive Hazardous Materials.'
The Special Judicial Police Investigation Best Practices Presentation Contest is held annually by the National Fire Agency to share fire crime investigation cases and techniques and to strengthen the investigative expertise of special judicial police officers in firefighting.
This year, to prevent the spread of COVID-19 infection, the contest was held online and non-face-to-face, selecting the best investigation cases through a first-round written review and a second-round video presentation review.
Fire Captain Kim Hyun-min said, "The investigation was not easy as the company under indictment hired a large law firm as their lawyer, but I was able to successfully conclude the case through teamwork," and added, "I will continue to do my best to detect those who pursue only private interests and harm the public interest to create a safe Gyeonggi-do and a safe Republic of Korea."

In August 2019, following the tragic explosion fire at a logistics warehouse in Anseong that resulted in the death of one firefighter, Captain Kim launched a tracking investigation targeting companies handling explosive hazardous materials in the province and achieved results by uncovering a company illegally handling imported explosive hazardous materials.
