Jungjingong Shares Startup Policy Support Know-how with ASEAN
Policy Training to Strengthen Policy-Making Capabilities for Five ASEAN Countries
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] The Small and Medium Business Corporation (Chairman Kim Hak-do, hereinafter referred to as SBC) announced on the 29th that it conducted a policy training session to strengthen policy-making capabilities for ASEAN startup policy officials at the Glad Hotel in Yeouido, Seoul.
The policy training is one of the 11 cooperation tasks identified through policy dialogues between the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and the ASEAN Coordinating Committee on Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (ACCMSME) following the 2019 Korea-ASEAN Special Summit.
SBC prepared this training to introduce Korea's SME support policies such as startup support projects and to assist ASEAN in policy formulation. The policy training, conducted in a webinar format, was attended by 44 participants from five ASEAN countries: Malaysia, Brunei, Myanmar, Laos, and Indonesia.
SBC employees in charge of the projects directly participated, introducing SBC’s major projects such as the Youth Startup Academy, policy funds, and training, as well as carbon neutrality support policies, and shared ways to revitalize the ASEAN startup ecosystem.
Last year’s policy training was attended by 22 government officials from three countries: Myanmar, Laos, and Cambodia. Based on the feedback from last year’s participants, SBC diversified the topics of the policy training and improved the training operation methods.
