Mokpo Maritime Police Station (Chief Im Jae-su) announced on the 28th that at around 8:30 a.m. on the 27th, they received a report that Mr. A (male, in his 60s) in Hajodo, Jindo-gun, Jeollanam-do, was experiencing paralysis symptoms.
The Coast Guard dispatched a coastal rescue boat from the local police substation, boarding patient A and his guardian, and urgently transported them to Seomang Port dock in Jindo that day.
That day, including three additional emergency patients with impaired consciousness and bleeding symptoms from Bigeumdo and Byeongpungdo, a total of four emergency patients from island villages in the jurisdiction were transported, working diligently under the effort.
A Mokpo Coast Guard official said, “There are 1,167 inhabited and uninhabited islands in the jurisdiction, and emergency patients continuously occur, making it very difficult to quickly transport them to the mainland without the Coast Guard’s help,” adding, “We are doing our best to protect the precious lives of the people despite difficult conditions.”
