Muan-gun Allocates Budget for Attendance Allowances at Saemaeul Leaders Meeting

Establishing Basis Through Amendment of 'Muan-gun Saemaeul Undong Organization Support Ordinance'

[Muan＝Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Oh Hwan-joo] Jeonnam Muan-gun (Governor Kim San) recently held an evaluation report meeting for the 2022 main budget self-funded projects to allocate the budget for attendance allowances for next year's Saemaeul leaders' meetings, after partially amending the Muan-gun Saemaeul Movement Organization Support Ordinance last month, at the governor's office in the county office.

According to the county on the 27th, the attendance allowance for Saemaeul leaders' meetings is an allowance paid to leaders who attend meetings convened by the county or eup/myeon for smooth county administration. The allowance is 60,000 KRW per attendance, and a budget of 624 million KRW was allocated for each county and eup/myeon. It will be implemented from next year after final approval by the Muan-gun Council.

The Muan-gun Saemaeul Association conducts various self-funded projects such as resource recycling collection, Happy Partner 365 Senior Guardians, housing improvement for marginalized groups, operation of reading culture rooms, making kimchi for families in need, and 12 auxiliary projects including donations to the Seungdal Scholarship, scholarship delivery to Haejenam Elementary School, rural volunteer activities, environmental cleanup activities, making gochujang, and delivering packages of sun-dried salt, blankets, agricultural specialties, and daily necessities.

Governor Kim San said, “The Saemaeul Movement Organization plays a significant role in national and regional development through various volunteer activities such as overcoming COVID-19, establishing social safety nets, and sharing with vulnerable and marginalized groups. We expect that the establishment of the attendance allowance for Saemaeul leaders' meetings will boost the morale of Saemaeul members and strengthen the function and status of the Saemaeul spirit, revitalizing the aging rural fishing village communities once again.”
