Korea Investment & Securities Holds 'Vegan Day' to Promote ESG Practices
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Junho] Korea Investment & Securities, a subsidiary of Korea Financial Group, held an 'ESG Vegan Day' on the 27th at its Yeouido headquarters cafeteria, offering a plant-based menu to protect both employees' health and the environment.
As part of ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) management, the event provided an eco-friendly, low-carbon menu using plant-based protein alternative meats and fresh vegetables. The dishes included cutlets made from soy meat, curry rice bowls, and handmade mushroom burgers.
Compared to animal-based diets, which emit a large amount of greenhouse gases during production and distribution, low-carbon diets that actively use plant-based ingredients can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 70%. They are also effective in preventing diseases such as obesity, heart disease, and metabolic syndrome.
