Ahn Cheol-soo Visits Former President Roh Tae-woo's Funeral Hall, Saying "A Person Who Fulfilled His Duty by Pioneering Northern Diplomacy"
[Asia Economy Reporters Jeon Jinyoung and Park Juni] Ahn Cheol-soo, leader of the People’s Party, visited the funeral hall of the late former President Roh Tae-woo on the 27th and paid tribute, saying he was “a person who pioneered northern diplomacy and properly fulfilled the mission of the era of the Republic of Korea.”
On the morning of the same day, Ahn visited the funeral hall at Seoul National University Hospital in Jongno-gu, Seoul, to offer condolences. After the condolence visit, he told reporters, “The deceased shared the turbulent modern history and the glory and shame of the Republic of Korea.”
He said, “The deceased was the first popularly elected president after the 1987 constitutional amendment,” and praised, “Despite the chaotic international situation such as the collapse of the Soviet Union and the reunification of Germany, he calmly analyzed and actively responded to international affairs.”
