Kolon FnC's 'WAK' Expands into China... Leading 'K-Golf'
[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Kolon Industries FnC Division (hereinafter Kolon FnC) is establishing its golf brand ‘WAAC’ as a global brand through its entry into the Chinese market.
Kolon FnC announced on the 27th that WAAC opened its first store in China by entering ‘S+G GOLF,’ a premium golf select shop located in Beijing SKP Department Store.
SKP Department Store is a top-tier department store representing China, which ranks second in global luxury sales. A total of 44 branches operate within China, and the Beijing SKP branch where WAAC is located is considered a key store. The ‘S+G GOLF’ select shop is situated on the 5th floor of SKP Department Store, which houses sports, children’s, and living sections, and features famous golf brands such as J.Lindeberg, Titleist, FootJoy, and Southcape alongside WAAC.
To enter the Chinese market, WAAC signed a wholesale contract with ‘Active Leisure International’ and plans to expand by opening two additional stores, including the SKP Department Store Xi’an branch, in the second half of the year. It has already quickly established itself in the market by achieving sales of approximately 100 million KRW during China’s largest holiday, National Day (October 1?7).
WAAC’s entry into China follows its successful expansion into the Japanese market. Since 2020, WAAC has opened official stores at Odakyu Haruku in Shinjuku, Matsuzakaya Nagoya, Daimaru Kobe, Daimaru Umeda, Takashimaya Kyoto, and Kintetsu Department Store Abeno Harukas, among others. By the 2022 F/W season, WAAC plans to open a total of 15 official stores in Japan.
