Prosecutors Raid Hideout of Yoon Woo-jin Over 'Sponsor Suspicion'... Seize Mobile Phone
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyung-min] The prosecution, investigating former Yongsan Tax Office chief Yoon Woo-jin's 'sponsor allegations,' recently conducted a search of the hideout where Yoon stayed.
According to the legal community on the 26th, the Anti-Corruption and Strong Crime Investigation Division 1 of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Jung Young-hwan) searched a hotel room in Seoul where former chief Yoon had stayed on the 22nd and secured his mobile phones and other items. It is reported that Yoon left his home and stayed at this hotel after businessman A submitted a petition to the prosecution last year detailing allegations against him.
The prosecution is analyzing call records and audio files from the secured mobile phones to verify whether Yoon lobbied or made requests to influential figures.
Former chief Yoon is the elder brother of Yoon Dae-jin, Planning Director (Chief Prosecutor) at the Judicial Research and Training Institute and a close aide to former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol.
The prosecution is investigating allegations that he received money and goods from sponsors including businessman A and acted as a broker introducing legal and tax authorities.
