855 Households Residential-Commercial Complex to Be Built Near Gireum Station on Line 4
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyemin] A residential-commercial complex with 855 households will be built in the vicinity of Gireum Station on Subway Line 4.
On the 25th, the Seoul Metropolitan Government held the 10th Urban Redevelopment Committee meeting and announced on the 26th that it had approved a revised plan to change the redevelopment promotion plan for the Sin-Gireum district around 524-87 Gireum-dong, Seongbuk-gu.
The Sin-Gireum district is a quasi-residential area located northeast of Gireum Station on Line 4. The city has planned to relax the residential ratio to 90% to significantly increase housing supply.
Accordingly, retail facilities with a total floor area of 17,000㎡ will be arranged on the lower floors, and 855 apartment units (including 211 rental units) will be constructed on the upper floors. The public rental housing will mix small units (exclusive area under 60㎡) and medium units (84㎡) considering social mix and diverse housing demands.
A 5-meter-wide pedestrian space has been additionally secured along Dongsomun-ro, and an entrance and escalator to Gireum Station will be installed within the public open space on the west side of the Sin-Gireum district. Additionally, a three-dimensional public pedestrian passage connecting the small park on the north side and Dongsomun-ro on the south side will be created in the center of the Sin-Gireum district to improve the walking environment.
Furthermore, necessary public facilities for the area will include not only a startup support center but also a security center for residents' safety, and collaborative work between the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency will be promoted.
