Jeonnam Region Vaccination Rate Expected to Reach 80% by End of Month... Preparing for Gradual Return to Normal Life
Perfecting Policies Tailored to Each Region
[Muan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam Province is preparing for a phased return to normal life as the local COVID-19 vaccination completion rate surpasses 74%.
The province announced on the 25th that the vaccination rate is expected to reach 80% by the end of this month.
Accordingly, learning from overseas cases such as the UK, Israel, and Singapore, which experienced confusion due to the sudden full lifting of quarantine rules, the province plans to prepare for a phased return to normal life while ensuring thorough policies tailored to the region.
To establish a home treatment-centered medical response system, a dedicated home treatment team will be formed to pilot operations primarily in city-level areas. The home treatment will be gradually expanded to minimize confusion that may arise on the ground, including extending to county areas in the future.
Additionally, to ensure stable treatment for patients with moderate to severe symptoms, the public medical system will be reorganized to respond to possible situations during the phased return to normal life by securing an additional 170 beds by November, increasing from the existing 359 beds to a total of 529 beds.
For high-risk multi-use facilities and workplaces employing foreigners, where risk factors remain high, more meticulous quarantine measures will be prepared to maintain vigilance against infection spread, preventing a sudden relaxation of quarantine tension, and continuous efforts will be made to prevent the spread of infectious diseases.
Kang Young-gu, Director of Health and Welfare at Jeonnam Province, said, “We are very grateful for the high vaccination completion rate achieved through the active participation and cooperation of the residents,” and added, “We hope everyone will cooperate in adhering to individual quarantine rules, such as wearing masks, until the moment of returning to normal life.”
Meanwhile, Jeonnam Province plans to administer additional vaccinations (booster shots) starting in November for elderly people in high-risk facilities such as nursing hospitals, as breakthrough infection cases among fully vaccinated individuals have recently increased.
For about 110,000 unvaccinated residents aged 18 and over in the province, personalized one-on-one vaccine consultation and reservation support will continue, along with promotional efforts to alleviate concerns about adverse reactions and encourage vaccination.
