Song Young-gil: "Actively Review Budget Increase for Local Currency Criticized by Lee Jae-myung"
[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jinyoung] Song Young-gil, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, stated on the 25th that he will actively review the budget for local currency, a pledge of presidential candidate Lee Jae-myung, to ensure it can be increased.
After President Moon Jae-in's policy speech at the National Assembly on the morning of the same day, Song told reporters, "As candidate Lee also pointed out, we will actively review the local currency budget so that it can be increased. The original scale of 21 trillion won was reduced by about 6 trillion won, but we will work to expand it."
He praised President Moon's policy speech, saying, "President Moon is the president who has visited the National Assembly the most times for policy speeches without missing a single one."
He continued, "President Moon honestly acknowledged our self-portrait, such as the lowest birth rate among OECD countries, elderly poverty rate, and suicide rate," and evaluated, "He also acknowledged the real estate issue and presented tasks."
Song said, "The Democratic Party will thoroughly review the 600 trillion won budget to ensure it becomes an inclusive budget that embraces vulnerable groups," and added, "Both ruling and opposition parties applauded when President Moon said that if the National Assembly sufficiently discusses the parts excluded from compensation under the Loss Compensation Act, they will accept it."
