Prosecutors Conduct First Search and Seizure at Seongnam City Hall Mayor's Office and Secretary's Office
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyung-min] The prosecution, investigating allegations of preferential treatment and lobbying related to the Daejang-dong development, is conducting a search and seizure of the mayor's office and the secretariat at Seongnam City Hall on the 21st.
The dedicated investigation team of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office (Team Leader Kim Tae-hoon, 4th Deputy Chief Prosecutor) dispatched 23 prosecutors and investigators to Seongnam in the afternoon to secure related materials from the mayor's office and the secretariat.
Although the prosecution has conducted four search and seizures at Seongnam City Hall within a week, including on the 15th, they had not searched the mayor's office and the secretariat, which had drawn criticism. The fifth search and seizure on this day included these two locations for document review.

With the prosecution extending the search and seizure to the Seongnam mayor's office and secretariat, there is speculation that the investigation could extend to Lee Jae-myung, the Governor of Gyeonggi Province who was the mayor of Seongnam at the time of the Daejang-dong development project, and his close associates.
