On the 20th, Mayor Oh appeared at the National Assembly Land, Infrastructure and Transport Committee's audit held at Seoul City Hall and responded to a question from Kim Gyo-hong of the Democratic Party of Korea by saying, "We will expedite the site selection for the incineration plant as much as possible."
Seoul, the Ministry of Environment, Gyeonggi Province, and Incheon formed a four-party consultative body in 2015 and extended the use period of the existing landfill site from 2016 to 2025, but have yet to select an alternative landfill site. Seoul is currently conducting site selection work to build an incineration plant capable of processing 1,000 tons of waste per day.
