[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Sumi] A driver who cleared a parking space by pushing multiple double-parked cars blocking their vehicle at once has attracted attention.
On the 15th, a video titled "Pushing cars like pushing carts" was uploaded on the YouTube channel Han Moon-cheol TV.
The video shows a driver pushing three double-parked cars blocking their vehicle at a parking lot in Gwangyang-si, Jeollanam-do, at 8 a.m. on the 26th of last month.
When the driver applied force while standing in front of the foremost double-parked car, the cars behind stuck together, and the three vehicles were slowly pushed backward.
A lawyer who watched the video said, "It looks like pushing carts at a mart or airport," expressing astonishment by adding, "I've seen all kinds of people."
The lawyer also warned that if a driver pushes multiple double-parked cars at once and damages the vehicles, the driver could be punished.
He explained, "Pushing cars one by one and accidentally causing them to collide is a mistake," and added, "Even if the cars get scratched, it is not covered by car insurance."
However, since the driver in the video pushed multiple double-parked cars at once, the lawyer explained, "This could be considered property damage with indirect intent and may be subject to punishment."
Meanwhile, netizens who saw the video reacted with comments such as, "I only imagined this sometimes, but seeing it done in reality is surprising," "People should take responsibility for their actions," and "Pushing even one car is hard, this person is really strong."
Some netizens also pointed out the problem of double parking. One netizen said, "If you double park, you should leave space, but doing it like that would make any driver angry."
