Gwangju Seo-gu Nongsung 2-dong Installs 'Bulbit Chorinjong' for 5 Vulnerable Households
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Shin Dong-ho] The Administrative Welfare Center of Nongsung 2-dong, Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Director Heo Soon-seok) announced on the 12th that, together with the Nongsung 2-dong Community Security Council (Chairman Do Deok-young), they installed LED wireless light doorbells in five low-income elderly and hearing-impaired households.
Nongsung 2-dong has many deteriorated houses, and especially in cases where there is no doorbell or the doorbell is broken, elderly people with presbycusis often could not hear visitors even when someone was at the door, resulting in frequent failure to respond properly.
Accordingly, the Nongsung 2-dong Community Security Council promoted the ‘Shoulder-to-Shoulder Discovery Team Emergency Support 119 Doorbell Installation Project’ as a measure to alleviate isolation and promote communication among neighbors.
The light doorbell activates a light when a visitor presses the bell at a hearing-impaired household, notifying that someone is outside, helping both the hearing-impaired residents and visitors to live without inconvenience.
Do Deok-young, Chairman of the Nongsung 2-dong Community Security Council, stated, “The installation of the light doorbell will play the role of light that relieves the discomfort and anxiety experienced by hearing-impaired people in daily life and increases their life satisfaction.”
Heo Soon-seok, Director of Nongsung 2-dong, said, “We plan to help elderly people communicate effectively and engage actively with neighbors through the connecting link of the doorbell,” adding, “We hope to continue promoting various life-centered welfare projects so that all members of the community in Nongsung 2-dong can become a happy welfare community.”
