5 New COVID-19 Cases Confirmed in Gwangju Construction Site and Other Cities
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] On the 11th, five people in the Gwangju area were confirmed positive for COVID-19.
Gwangju Metropolitan City announced that as of 2 p.m. on the same day, the new confirmed cases were classified as numbers 5202 to 5206.
Two new cases related to a construction site in Gwangsan-gu, numbered 5204 and 5205, have been added, bringing the total to 10.
There were two cases related to confirmed patients from other cities and provinces, one of whom is currently in isolation. Number 5202 was infected after contact with Seongnam case number 8058, and number 5206 was infected after contact with a confirmed patient in Daegu.
One additional case (5203) related to the administrative order for employment agencies was added, increasing the cumulative total to 38.
By age group, from the 1st of this month to the present, the highest number of cases occurred among people in their 20s, who have a wide range of activities, with 49 cases.
Following that were 41 cases in their 40s, 29 in their 30s, 25 aged 60 and above, 20 in their 50s, and 10 under the age of 10.
People in their 20s and 30s accounted for 40% of the total, while those in their 50s and 60s accounted for 24%.
The first-dose vaccination rate in the region was 76.5%, which is 1.2 percentage points lower than the national rate of 77.7%, and the full vaccination rate with two doses was 58.5%, 0.8 percentage points lower than the national rate of 59.3%.
