Two Officials from Gangjin County Office Arrested for Buying Real Estate After Learning About Tourist Complex Development Information

The Anti-Corruption and Economic Crime Investigation Unit 1 of the Jeonnam Provincial Police Agency arrested Mr. A, former chief secretary of Gangjin-gun Office, on the 8th on charges of violating the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission Act and bribery under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes. Local construction businessman Mr. B was also arrested on the same charges.
They are suspected of purchasing real estate in the area last January after obtaining prior knowledge of the development information of the Gau-do tourism complex.
There is also suspicion that they received tens of millions of won from a specific company in relation to the selection of a sewage treatment facility contractor commissioned by the county office in June 2019.
