On the 8th, TMAP Mobility announced that it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on the 7th with the Korea Parking Equipment Industry Cooperative to establish a win-win system between platform companies and equipment companies.
Equipment companies are firms that install and maintain devices such as vehicle license plate recognition systems and barriers that operate when vehicles enter parking lots. Most of these are small and medium-sized enterprises, making it difficult to implement platform functions such as payment within applications and parking information data integration.
This MOU aims to clearly distinguish and cooperate the roles of these equipment companies and platform companies like TMAP to jointly promote the development of the parking market. TMAP Mobility has committed to actively cooperating in digital transformation by interlinking parking-related services and sharing data to ensure that small and medium-sized equipment companies are not neglected in the market.
Starting with Busan City Hall in July last year, TMAP Mobility has continuously digitalized parking lots while maintaining the existing market ecosystem by applying TMAP Parking to public parking lots in Suwon City, Sajik Sports Complex, and Incheon City Hall. Equipment installation and maintenance were entrusted to equipment companies, while TMAP focused on its role as a platform.

Yang Sung-woo, Head of MOD2 Group at TMAP Mobility, said, “As cases of platform companies directly entering the parking lot business increase, concerns among small and medium-sized equipment companies are growing. TMAP Mobility, as a platform company, will faithfully perform each party’s strengths and roles with the parking equipment industry, which is mostly composed of SMEs, and work together to improve parking convenience for users.”
