Yeongam-gun to Implement Water and Sewage Fee Reductions for 2,500 Households Affected by Discolored Water
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Seo Young-seo] Yeongam-gun, Jeollanam-do recently announced on the 7th that it will reduce the water bills for September usage (1 month) for 2,500 households in the area who suffered from discolored water damage due to aging water pipes.
The cause of the discolored water in some areas of three myeon (Gunseo, Seoho, Haksan) is believed to be turbidity caused by sediment accumulated inside the water pipes, triggered by increased water usage before and after Chuseok.
Currently, emergency pipe cleaning operations are being conducted to eliminate the cause of the discolored water in the affected areas, with continuous daily monitoring on site. The replacement of aging pipes in the water supply areas of Gunseo and Haksan is underway, aiming for construction to start in 2024.
The water bill reduction applies to approximately 2,500 households residing in the entire Gunseo-myeon, Seoho-myeon (excluding Geumgang and Taebaek-ri), and Yongsan-ri in Haksan-myeon. The discount will be automatically applied to the October bill without a separate application.
