Jeonnam Provincial Council Planning and Administration Committee Conducts On-site Activities in Yeosu and Suncheon

View original image[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jun-kyung] The Planning and Administration Committee of the Jeonnam Provincial Council announced on the 6th that it conducted on-site legislative activities by selecting the Eastern Region Integrated Government Building construction site and the Yeosu Jukrim 1 District Urban Development Project site.
The Eastern Region Integrated Government Building is being constructed on approximately 30,000㎡ of land in Haeryong-myeon, Suncheon City, with a budget of 38.7 billion KRW from the provincial government, aiming for completion in May 2023. The building will have a total floor area of 13,000㎡ and will provide high-quality administrative services to residents of the eastern region. Three institutions?the Eastern Regional Headquarters, Eastern Animal Hygiene Testing Office, and Jeonnam Credit Guarantee Foundation?are scheduled to move in.
Committee member Han Geun-seok said, “Since the provincial office has been concentrated in the western region, residents in the eastern region had inconveniences, but now they can conveniently resolve civil complaints nearby. We ask that the integrated government building, which will serve as a community convenience facility combining communication and cultural spaces and become a regional landmark, be built steadily.”
Following this, the committee members visited the Yeosu Jukrim 1 District Urban Development Project site, promoted by Jeonnam Development Corporation, to preemptively inspect potential hazards at the construction site and check the progress of the construction.
The Jukrim District was designated as part of the Yeosu National Industrial Complex in 1974, but development was delayed, causing local residents to suffer infringements on their property rights. This long-standing issue was resolved when Jeonnam Development Corporation began promoting residential land development in 2018.
The Jukrim 1 District Urban Development Project is an eco-friendly, self-sufficient city development project on approximately 990,000㎡ of land with a budget of 415.5 billion KRW, designed to accommodate about 14,000 residents. Currently, the project is progressing smoothly with about 20% completion.

Committee Chair Park Moon-ok stated, “To prevent safety accidents at the construction site, thorough site management and supervision are essential. We ask that you do your best to ensure steady and rational progress management so that the project is completed without any setbacks by 2024.”
