Gwangju City Accepts Applications for Use of 'Bitgoeul National Safety Experience Center'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 5th that it is accepting applications for the use of the ‘Bitgoeul National Safety Experience Center,’ which is scheduled to open on the 19th.
The Bitgoeul National Safety Experience Center, located in Ochi-dong, Buk-gu, consists of 23 experience facilities across 8 experience zones.
The experience programs include ▲Children’s Safety on Basement Level 1 ▲Natural Disaster Response Hall, Mountain Safety, Heavy Rain Safety, Earthquake Safety on the 1st floor ▲Social Disaster Response Hall, Fire Safety, Daily Life Safety on the 2nd floor ▲Emergency Safety, Student Safety on the 3rd floor.
The programs operate by reservation, with the Children’s Safety program on Basement Level 1 running 4 times a day, and the others running 5 times each. Each experience is conducted with 20 or fewer participants per zone.
However, the number of sessions and participants may be adjusted according to social distancing levels based on COVID-19 prevention guidelines.
The experience center operates normally every day except Mondays (or the following day if Monday is a public holiday), New Year’s Day (January 1), and the Lunar New Year and Chuseok holidays.
Applications can be made up to the current and following month based on the reservation date, and are available through the Bitgoeul National Safety Experience Center website, phone, or in person.
Lee Dong-young, director of the Bitgoeul National Safety Experience Center, said, “Even during the pilot operation period before the official opening on the 19th, the experience center can be used by reservation. About 50 staff members are preparing to provide high-quality safety experience education and administrative services, so we hope many citizens will show interest.”
Meanwhile, Gwangju City expects that once COVID-19 ends and the center operates normally, up to 900 people per day and 270,000 people annually will be able to experience the center.
