Minister Lee In-young Returns Home on the 5th After European Tour
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] The Ministry of Unification announced that Minister Lee In-young will return to Korea on the afternoon of the 5th via Incheon Airport after completing his European tour, including Belgium, Sweden, and Germany.
On the 30th of last month, Minister Lee held a series of meetings with European Union commissioners and parliament members in Belgium to discuss the Korean Peninsula peace process and humanitarian cooperation.
On the 1st of this month, he visited Stockholm, Sweden, where he met with Ann Linde, Sweden’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, the Special Envoy for the Korean Peninsula, the Prime Minister’s Office diplomatic advisor, and parliament members to request support for the Korean Peninsula ceasefire initiative promoted by the South Korean government.
Subsequently, he visited Berlin and Halle, Germany, from the 2nd to the 4th to attend the 31st anniversary of German reunification. On the 2nd, he listened to opinions from local youth and Korean residents in Berlin. On the 3rd, after attending the German reunification commemorative event, he held a meeting with Reiner Haseloff, Minister-President of Saxony-Anhalt and President of the Bundesrat, who presided over the ceremony.
On the 4th, he paid a courtesy visit to German Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, conveying President Moon Jae-in’s special regards and congratulations on the 31st anniversary of German reunification.

The Ministry of Unification evaluated, "This European tour will enhance the international community’s understanding of the need for a Korean Peninsula end-of-war declaration and peacebuilding, as well as our government’s vision for inter-Korean relations. It will contribute to creating a positive environment for restoring inter-Korean relations, advancing the peace process, and resuming North Korea-US dialogue."
