Hankook Tire Achieves Top 1% in EcoVadis CSR Evaluation by International Rating Agency
Highest Grade for 3 Consecutive Years... Scores Increase in Environment and Sustainable Procurement Areas
[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] Hankook Tire & Technology announced on the 5th that it has achieved the highest rating, 'Platinum,' awarded to the top 1% of companies in the 2021 CSR evaluation by the global sustainability assessment organization Ecovadis.
Ecovadis highly evaluated Hankook Tire for setting clear and quantitative goals related to CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) issues and actively participating in various initiatives for sustainability, according to Hankook Tire.
Ecovadis is an international assessment organization that evaluates the social performance of over 65,000 companies across 160 countries worldwide. It assesses corporate sustainability based on themes such as environment, labor and human rights, and sustainable procurement policies, awarding ratings such as Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze.
Hankook Tire previously earned the highest rating at the time, Gold, awarded to the top 5% of companies in Ecovadis's 2019 evaluation. When the highest rating for the top 1% of companies was newly established in last year's evaluation, Hankook Tire immediately rose to the 'Platinum' level.
Notably, Hankook Tire increased its score by 8 points from last year's evaluation to 81 points, maintaining the highest rating this year while improving its absolute score. Specifically, it scored 70 points in the environmental category, up by 10 points, and 90 points in the sustainable procurement category, up by 20 points.
