11 Confirmed Cases Including Medical Facility Users in Gwangju... Cumulative Total 5,088
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] On the substitute holiday for National Foundation Day, October 4th, 11 new COVID-19 cases were reported in the Gwangju area.
According to Gwangju Metropolitan City as of 2 PM on the 4th, 11 people tested positive and were assigned case numbers 5078 to 5088.
With an additional confirmed case (case 5080) linked to a medical institution in Seo-gu, where cases were reported the previous day, health authorities have raised the alert level.
On October 2nd, five construction workers at a site in Yeongam, Jeonnam, tested positive, and among them, a staff member (case 5072) at the medical institution was confirmed positive following testing of patrons at a pub in Seo-gu who had contact with one of the workers.
Subsequently, health authorities classified case 5072 as related to a construction site in another region and issued disaster safety messages to trace contacts and conduct testing. So far, 17 people have been tested, with 2 confirmed positive, 10 negative, and 5 awaiting results.
Cases 5083 to 5085 are linked to manufacturing in Gwangsan-gu and were confirmed infected during tests conducted prior to release from self-quarantine.
Case 5081 was identified through a diagnostic testing administrative order targeting employment agencies, and case 5086 tested positive during quarantine related to case 5026, confirmed on October 1st.
One infection each was reported related to confirmed cases from Boryeong and Daejeon, and three additional cases were confirmed through voluntary testing after symptoms appeared.
