Implementation of the '7th Term Resident Jury System' for Pledge Verification and Adjustment... Final Recommendation Reflected in Detailed Pledge Action Plans... Resident Jury Formation and Operation Entrusted to Korea Manifesto Practice Headquarters to Ensure Fairness and Expertise
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Yoo Deok-yeol) is implementing the ‘7th Term Resident Jury System’ to conduct fair and professional evaluations of its campaign projects.
To prevent the spread of COVID-19, the resident jury system, held non-face-to-face, will continue with the 2nd and 3rd meetings scheduled for October 7 and 21, following the first meeting on September 30 at 1 PM.
This year’s resident jury system is designed to verify and adjust the overall implementation plans of 92 campaign pledges across 7 sectors of the 7th term Dongdaemun-gu administration, and to actively reflect the residents’ desired directions in policies.
To ensure fairness and professionalism, the composition and operation of the resident jury panel are entrusted to the Korea Manifesto Practice Headquarters. A total of 40 jurors, aged 18 or older and residing in Dongdaemun-gu, were finally selected through a transparent and representative random drawing method (ARS).
The first meeting held on the 30th of last month began with a greeting from Mayor Yoo Deok-yeol, followed by the appointment of resident jurors, education on the purpose and role of the resident jury system, and the formation of subcommittees.
For substantive discussions and deliberations, the 2nd and 3rd meetings will continue on October 7 and 21.
At the 2nd meeting scheduled for October 7, explanations and Q&A on campaign agenda items by subcommittee and free discussions within subcommittees will take place. Finally, at the 3rd meeting on October 21, a full vote by the resident jury panel will be conducted based on the subcommittee discussion results. The final recommendations decided through voting will be reviewed by each department and reflected in the detailed campaign implementation plans.
Mayor Yoo Deok-yeol of Dongdaemun-gu stated, “Since the start of the 7th term, Dongdaemun-gu has strived to communicate with residents from the establishment to the promotion of 92 campaign plans across 7 major sectors. As campaign pledges are promises to residents, we will faithfully carry them out without neglect and do our best until the end to realize a city where all residents can be happy based on trust.”
