'Continued Transmission from Confirmed Case Contacts' 22 New Cases in Gwangju on the 2nd
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Cho Hyung-joo] In Gwangju, 22 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been reported as chain infections increased due to contact with previously confirmed cases from other regions, foreigners, and daycare centers.
According to Gwangju Metropolitan City on the 3rd, 22 people in the Gwangju area were confirmed positive for COVID-19 in one day, classified as Gwangju cases 5064 to 5043.
There were 2 cases related to foreigner testing in Gwangsan-gu, 1 case related to an administrative order for a job placement agency, 1 case at a medical institution in Dong-gu, 7 cases related to previously confirmed patients, 7 cases related to confirmed patients from other cities such as Jeonnam and Gwangmyeong, and 4 cases under investigation due to symptoms.
The confirmed cases related to foreigner testing in Gwangsan-gu and the administrative order for the job placement agency were all foreigners, with infections confirmed through close contact testing and the administrative order for the job placement agency.
Seven people, including coworkers and family members who had contact with previously confirmed patients, tested positive. Among them, one was a daycare center child attending a facility in Nam-gu who became infected with COVID-19, leading to two additional infections among staff and students at a daycare center and an elementary school in Nam-gu.
One additional confirmed case was reported at a medical institution in Dong-gu, bringing the total to 12. This confirmed patient was a discharged patient from Jeonnam National University Hospital who was tested and confirmed positive while in quarantine after being notified of contact with hospital-related confirmed cases.
More than half of the confirmed cases from other cities were linked to Jeonnam case number 3113, confirmed on the 30th of last month, with a cluster of cases confirmed. The health authorities identified that they worked together at a construction site in Yeongam, Jeonnam.
Meanwhile, the health authorities are investigating the infection routes of four people who tested positive through symptomatic testing.
