Hyundai Motor's Hydrogen Electric Vehicle Nexo Surpasses 1,000 Units Sold in Europe
[Asia Economy Reporter Yu Je-hoon] Hyundai Motor's hydrogen electric vehicle (FCEV) Nexo has surpassed 1,000 units in sales in Europe.
According to Hyundai Motor Europe (HME) on the 2nd, since production began in 2018, the cumulative sales of Nexo in Europe have reached 1,111 units. As of August, a total of 19,051 Nexos have been sold.
HME stated, "Nexo strengthens Hyundai Motor's long-standing efforts for cleaner mobility," adding, "Nexo offers a driving range of up to 666 km and a refueling time of less than 5 minutes, providing maximum convenience to customers."
Recently, Hyundai Motor has also been accelerating its entry into the European hydrogen commercial vehicle market. The world's first mass-produced hydrogen fuel cell truck, the Xcient Fuel Cell, was launched in Switzerland last year. Currently, the cumulative mileage of the Xcient Fuel Cell has exceeded 1.5 million km. Additionally, Hyundai recently delivered Elec City Fuel Cell buses to Munich, Germany.
At the recent Hydrogen Wave event, Hyundai Motor unveiled its future roadmap for hydrogen electric vehicles. The company is currently developing the 3rd generation fuel cell stack for Nexo and plans to sell more than 110,000 passenger and commercial hydrogen electric vehicles annually by 2025.

In particular, Hyundai plans to supply hydrogen fuel cell systems for all types of vehicles. Hyundai also aims to supply 1,600 Xcient trucks to the Swiss market by 2025.
