[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Daejeon City announced on the 2nd that it will provide educational disaster relief funds to out-of-school youth residing in the region.
The educational disaster relief funds are provided to help out-of-school youth who are struggling with their studies and independence due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
The recipients are out-of-school youth aged 8 to 19 with an address in Daejeon as of the 30th of last month. The support fund is 100,000 KRW per person and will be credited to the youth’s or guardian’s Ontong Daejeon card or provided as an anonymous prepaid card.
If applying for the support fund via the Ontong Daejeon card, the amount will be automatically credited, while those applying for the anonymous prepaid card can visit the local ‘Out-of-School Youth Support Center’ in their jurisdiction to receive it.
Applications can be made through the Education and Youth Division of Daejeon City Hall from the 5th to the 22nd of this month.
The city currently estimates that there are more than 4,000 out-of-school youth in the area based on resident registration data.
