Orion Former President Loses Second Trial in 4 Billion Won Return Lawsuit Against Chairman and Spouse
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] Former Orion president filed a lawsuit against Chairman Dam Cheol-gon of Orion Group and his wife, demanding the return of 4 billion KRW paid on their behalf for purchasing paintings and furniture, but lost again in the appellate court.
The Seoul High Court Civil Division 18 (Presiding Judges Jung Jun-young, Min Dal-gi, Choi Woong-young) ruled on the 1st that Jo Kyung-min, former president of Orion, lost the contract money claim lawsuit against Chairman Dam and his wife, just as in the first trial.
Jo claimed that during the process of purchasing paintings and furniture, he paid the costs on their behalf with an agreement that they would repay him as soon as funds were available, but he did not receive the promised payment, and filed the lawsuit in December 2017.

The first trial court ruled in favor of Chairman Dam and his wife, judging that there was no financial transaction record or receipt to prove Jo’s claim. Jo appealed, but the appeal was dismissed.
