Ssangyong Motor, Total Sales of 5,950 Units in September... 39.5% Decrease YoY
Shipping backlog continues due to Chuseok holiday and semiconductor supply issues
[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] SsangYong Motor announced on the 1st that it sold a total of 5,950 units in September, including 3,859 units domestically and 2,091 units exported.
SsangYong Motor explained that last month's performance decreased by 39.5% compared to the same month last year due to a reduction in operating days caused by the Chuseok holiday and supply constraints of parts such as semiconductors.
SsangYong Motor is making every effort to resolve the backlog of The New Rexton Sports & Khan production, but the shipment backlog continues due to reduced operating days and parts supply constraints.
Domestic sales decreased by 53% compared to September last year due to supply disruptions caused by parts supply constraints, although there remains an unshipped inventory of about 5,000 units, including approximately 4,000 units of The New Rexton Sports & Khan.
Exports increased by 28.6% year-on-year due to the strong performance of improved models, with about 3,000 units waiting for shipment due to supply volume limitations.
However, as the global major market launch of The New Rexton Sports & Khan, which has received favorable reviews in overseas markets, is underway, and the shipment of SsangYong Motor's first electric vehicle, the Korando e-Motion, to Europe has also started, the export recovery is expected to accelerate further.
