[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Geochang-gun, Gyeongnam Province held a countermeasure meeting on September 30, chaired by County Governor Gu In-mo, with 27 participants including department heads related to the hosting of local festivals and events in October, to respond to the rapid spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) that has surged around the Chuseok holiday.
This countermeasure meeting reviewed preemptive response plans by each department in anticipation of an increase in visitors during the October holidays and local festival events amid the autumn outing season.
In accordance with the central government's policy to cancel or postpone face-to-face festivals in October, the county decided to hold gatherings of 50 or more people on a reduced scale, or postpone ceremonies such as completion ceremonies and opening ceremonies, where a large number of people are expected, to the following month.
Governor Gu urged, “Considering the COVID-19 situation is more severe than ever, please strictly adhere to quarantine rules when holding various events,” and also requested, “Please promote activities that will help revitalize the economy of struggling small business owners.”
