Sejong City Launches Comprehensive Crackdown on Illegal Distribution of Local Love Gift Certificates
[Asia Economy (Sejong) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Sejong City will conduct a comprehensive crackdown on the fraudulent distribution of local love gift certificates from the 1st to the 20th.
According to the city on the 1st, the comprehensive crackdown will be carried out in accordance with the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's plan for a nationwide crackdown on local love gift certificates in the second half of this year.
The city plans to select suspicious franchise stores for fraudulent distribution by utilizing data analysis materials from KT, the operating agency, and financial institution franchise store data, and conduct on-site inspections.
In addition, the scope of the crackdown will be further expanded based on online and offline resident reports received at the fraudulent distribution resident report reception center.
The main targets of the crackdown are ▲franchise stores operating in restricted business sectors ▲making payments with gift certificates without registering as a franchise store ▲refusing gift certificate payments or treating gift certificate holders unfairly.
Franchise stores found guilty of fraudulent distribution may face cancellation of franchise registration, administrative sanctions prohibiting entry into franchise stores for a certain period, or fines up to 20 million KRW according to the law.
In particular, the city plans to respond strongly by requesting investigations from investigative agencies for serious violations.
