[2021 Public Institution Award] Korea Oil Management Corporation Strengthens Quality Control Including Fuel Inspection for Low-Income Households

[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Haeyoung] The Korea Petroleum Management Service received the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Award at the ‘2021 Asia Economy ESG Public Institution Awards’ in recognition of its contribution to stabilizing citizens' lives through strengthened public petroleum product quality management services and its enhanced ethical management.
The Petroleum Management Service strengthened public petroleum product quality management services such as fuel inspections for low-income groups, quality inspections involving public participation, and quality checks for the general public.
In cooperation with local communities, it conducted soil contamination surveys and water quality tests in densely populated and multi-use facilities such as beaches, daycare centers, and school playgrounds, contributing to the creation of a safe living environment.
Additionally, the Chairperson of the Ethics Management Committee was elevated to ‘Chairman,’ achieving zero tolerance for corruption, sexual harassment, abuse of power, hiring irregularities, and human rights violations. Led by the Audit Office, all 123 regulations related to corruption impact assessment methods were reviewed, and necessary regulations were amended. Anti-corruption measures were also established for seven items in the business and management sectors.
Furthermore, on-site education was provided to vulnerable groups and students in island regions to help resolve educational polarization. Social contribution activities such as supporting energy-poor neighbors and providing cooling supplies to COVID-19 screening clinics are also being continuously promoted.
